Your opportunity to be involved in the development of industry standards: Members of the electronics industry in Australia and New Zealand can now more efficiently provide constructive comment and input to the development and revision of standards by the IPC. The SMCBA is a Technical Liaison Member of the IPC and as such we obtain copies of standards proposals/interim drafts etc prior to final publication of an IPC standard - these are available for viewing and comment by members however we have developed a more direct method of participation using the convenience of the Internet to facilitate this process. The IPC has many task groups to develop standards for our industry. These task groups comprise hard working volunteers from within the industry and David Bergman, Vice President of Standards Technology can provide you with details on how you might participate in these groups. Copies of draft standards can be obtained from Mary Tunk (IPC Technical Staff). If you have comment on an existing standard, interim standard, draft or proposal you can also contact the Chairs of the relevant task groups/committees. IPC standards are "living" documents - revision, amendment and continuous improvement is ongoing. For this the task groups need participation and feedback from the industry. You can do this direct or you can do this through the SMCBA by sending your comments to Andrew Pollock. Click Here for the list of IPC standards, their status and chairpersons. |
